At NAB 2016, Rohde & Schwarz DVS will highlight how its R&S VENICE ingest and playout platform is meeting the requirements of modern live and studio productions in particular new 4K requirements.

RS DVS Bildmotiv dvs de 20141009Offering an open system architecture, a variety of supported file formats, codecs and interfaces and an integrated feature set, R&S VENICE is designed to allow TV studios to optimise current and future workflows. The 4K version of the product, R&S VENICE 4K, also features native 4K/Ultra HD-1 acquisition, playback and transform functions, delivering to production and TV studios, says the company, leading performance and highest picture quality in this field.

The R&S VENICE 4K platform enables ingest, playout and transform processes for 4K/UHD-1 material with up to 60p. R&S VENICE 4K records material directly with 4K/UHD-1 resolution, which, says the makers, means that time-consuming stitching processes are eliminated. At the same time, an HD-derivative can be generated to provide compatibility with existing HD workflows. The dual destination feature makes it possible to save UHD-1 signals in parallel and independently of one another to two different storage environments, eliminating transfer times for copy processes. UHD-1 signals can be directly recorded to internal and external storage media, and the recorded material can be directly accessed.

“We are excited to open TV studios new perspectives up to 4K in studio production with our R&S VENICE ingest and playout platform,” said Michael Hackl, head of product management broadcast solutions at Rohde & Schwarz DVS. With R&S VENICE 4K, broadcasters can gradually migrate their production to 4K while orienting themselves to their familiar workflows.”
