Chile’s Entel, Mega take 2018 World Cup to mobile screens

Chile’s free-to-air (FTA) network Mega and pay-TV provider Entel are partnering to stream live football on mobile screens through an Android and iOS app.
entel fcEntel, one of Chile’s largest telcos and sponsor of the country’s national football team, and Mega have launched the Entel FC app through which all the games of Russia’s 2018 World Cup qualifiers can be streamed live.
In addition, all the games of the national team, including friendly matches, of which Mega owns the broadcasting rights, will also be available, but only for Entel subscribers.
The app enables viewers to select different cameras and replay the action in 360°. It also displays results, video highlights, minute-to-minute comments and news from 18 international competitions, including the Champions League, Spain’s La Liga and the English Premier League.
“We have a clear goal as a company: connecting with Chileans. Through this app, we deliver the opportunity to enjoy football and the national team on a new and innovative platform,” said Carlos Rodríguez, innovation manager, Entel.
“Through this app, our channel makes an important move towards innovation. This technology meets the audience’s new consumption habits: watching content everywhere,” added Macarena Cerda, business and development director, Mega.
