Accenture scores with Mediaset for OTT Champions League football service

Global professional services company Accenture has entered a partnership with leading European pay-TV firm Mediaset to deliver UEFA Champions League football matches on an over-the-top (OTT) basis.
Mediast 29 AprilThe leading football games have to date been delivered on the Mediaset Premium Play service which has drawn more than 600,000 unique monthly visitors, doubling the number of visitors since the service was made available in July 2015.
The Mediaset Premium Play OTT option will give Italy’s largest commercial TV broadcaster a reach of over a million consumers and will combine the Accenture Video Solution (AVS) platform, already used by more than 60 million people on thousands of device models, with the scalability and feature set of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud.
AVS is said to contain a catalogue of pre-built features needed to quickly develop and deliver the service. The cloud-based platform features analytics that generate real-time insights about viewer behaviours that Accenture says will help Mediaset Premium attract more viewers by providing more personalised services. It is built to dynamically provide the infrastructure capacity needed to stream matches based on the users requesting the service. This Accenture says will enable Mediaset Premium to avoid the expense of acquiring additional hardware as the number of subscribers increases, using only the resources needed at any point in time.
