Advertising advances increased profits for Mediaset

In line with 2015 results, Mediaset’s Q1 2016 figures reveal profit growth in Spain, driven by increased advertising.
mediaset tvThe quarterly report shows an income of €230 million, of which €214 million was invoiced through advertising. After taxes and expenses, Mediaset ends the quarter with a net profit of €50 million, 37.8% more than in March 2015.
In a recovering TV advertising market, which grew by 5.6% during the first quarter of the year, Mediaset tops the sector, together with Atresmedia. Paolo Vasile’s group invoices over €4 in every €10 generated by TV advertising in Spain.
Through its six free-to-air (FTA) networks, which became seven two weeks ago, Mediaset hits 7.68 million viewers on average per day, giving it a 29.4% share. Despite audience figures being lower than in Q1 2015, the group still leads viewing habits among Spaniards.
Mediaset also retains a solid position regarding online viewing. With 28.6 million unique users per month, the group’s websites served over 250 million videos during Q1 2016.
In addition, its over-the-top (OTT) streaming mobile platform Mitele is one of the most used in Spain, having registered 4.8 million downloads during the first three months of the year.
