Telemundo, NBC Universo unveil new formats and original productions

Telemundo has used parent NBCUniversal’s Upfront presentation to reveal a new slate comprising over 1,100 hours of new formats and multi-platform content.



Telemundo 16 May 2016As it heads into the Upfront season the leading Spanish-language TV channel said that it has gained more viewers year-over-year in Monday-Friday prime time among key demos. Among the new programmes announced by the station will be more super series, bio-musicals, new mini-series, serialised dramas, new Sunday night programming block and talent shows.

The line-up also includes new offerings from the NBC Universo division which will now feature a celeb-reality series, a new reality series and season three of worldwide phenomenon The Walking Dead. Executives also announced a development and production deal with the Jenni Rivera estate to produce a number of series and specials inspired by the renowned vocalist and songwriter, including a bio-musical television series based on her life story, and a tribute concert.

In June 2016 Telemundo will launch El Poder En Ti a company-wide community initiative aimed at empowering viewers in three areas: education, health and finance. The multi-platform initiative is supported by a specialised website, digital tools and resources, and stories brought to life by a series of PSAs starring various Telemundo talent, including Don Francisco as the narrative voice of the campaign.
