Digital broadcaster Veqta has set a June launch date for its over-the-top (OTT) sports service in India.
veqtaVeqta plans to provide both short-form video-on-demand and stream live content, with content in various regional languages planned after launch. Content will be available through an app, with users able to access some without charge and via paid subscription for premium content.
“Veqta will follow a very friendly content format. There is very little sports content for the viewers. We will be a destination for sports fans to enjoy high quality content coming from the biggest names in the business,” said Varun Mathur, co-founder and director, Veqta.
The OTT company has raised US$500,000 in seed funding from Chatsworth Management and sports management company ITW Consulting.
The funds secured will be used to further expand the team, invest in product development and grow consumer base.
Veqta will deliver licensed content and flagship studio content across various disciplines including cricket, football, motorsports, basketball, tennis, badminton and a range of Olympic sports.
