Lantica signs up former Univision, BBC execs

Caribbean entertainment company Lantica Media has appointed Joaquin Blaya, former executive at Univision, as executive chairman of the board of directors, and Fred Medina, ex-BBC Worldwide, as COO.



fred medinaBlaya is a pioneer of Spanish-language media in the US, having contributed to both Univision and Telemundo, in addition to working for the United States Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG).

Blaya has been member of Lantica Media’s board of directors for the past two years, helping shape the company’s business model. In his new role, he has taken upon new challenges to back the company’s plans to enter into its next stages of growth.

Having been BBC Worldwide’s EVP until last year, Medina has also held senior roles in MTV Latino, HBO Latin American and E! Entertainment.

As chief operating officer, Medina is responsible for managing day-to-day studio operations and production services, supporting the company’s business strategy and financial objectives.
