Euronews strengthens LATAM presence prior to the Olympics

Euronews has signed several distribution agreements in Brazil, Argentina and México, intensifying its coverage in Latin America two months ahead of the Rio Olympics.



olympics rio2016For the first time, the news signal will be broadcast 24/7 in Brazil following distribution agreements with TV Alphaville and TV A Cabo. It has already been selected by Claro TV to air 24/7 in Arab, English, French, German, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish across the Olympic villages of Belo Horizonte, Brasilia, Manaus, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.

Euronews will also air on Mexico’s Cablecom and Telecable. Together with Cablemas, Cablevision, Canal 44, Dish and TVI, the signal reaches over a million Mexican households.

Argentina’s third largest cableco, Gigared, has also added Euronews to its pay-TV offering. The channel, which is already available on Cablevisión and Supercanal, has a potential audience of 1.1 million.

Thanks to these agreements, 32.3 million viewers can access our channel across the region,” said Arnauld Verlhac, worldwide distribution director, Euronews. “We are going to be there during one of the sports events of the year: the Olympics.”
