A group of 23 operators, including some of the world's biggest service providers, have clubbed together on a project to provide free public international WiFi roaming.

Led by the Wireless Broadband Alliance , the City Wi-Fi Roaming Project has already launched roaming services in the cities of New York, Barcelona, Dublin, Singapore, San Francisco and San Jose and is targeting other cities around the world.

Operators involved in the project include AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T), BT Group plc (NYSE: BT; London: BTA), China Mobile Ltd. (NYSE: CHL), Hong Kong Telecom, KT Corp. , NTT DoCoMo Inc. (NYSE: DCM), Orange (NYSE: FTE), SK Telecom (Nasdaq: SKM), Sprint Corp. (NYSE: S), Swisscom AG (NYSE: SCM), Telecom New Zealand Ltd. (NYSE: NZT; New Zealand: TEL), Telstra Corp. Ltd. (ASX: TLS; NZK: TLS), Telus Corp. (NYSE: TU; Toronto: T) and T-Mobile US Inc. .
