Hello, ( am a relative Newbie )

I have heard mention that there is a CD tutorial CD available out there that shows how to patch a receiver.

1. Can anyone e-mail me a copy of the CD file ?

2. I have reprogrammed cards before but have never had to patch a receiver.Does patching take the place of a card ?

3. If so is patching a receiver as good as having a cam and card ?Are there any drawbacks or disadvantages ?

I am considering buying a new receiver that comes already patched but will at some point need repatching .How often will I need to repatch ?
