E! Entertainment searches for South African host

E! Entertainment Television is to locally produce a six-part reality series to find the first host for the channel from South Africa.

The Search: E! Host South Africa is scheduled to launch on sub-Saharan pay-TV platform DStv in February.

“E! Entertainment Television continues to invest into original programming and, with The Search: E! Host South Africa about to begin production, we are delighted to be showcasing local talent,” said Colin McLeod, managing director, UK and emerging markets, NBCUniversal International Networks.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance for up-and-coming talent from across the country to pursue this unique opportunity to become a pop culture ambassador on E! in Africa.”

Contestants will live together in a luxury mansion and have to complete weekly challenges for the duration of their time on the programme. Each week, a panel of judges will eliminate one contestant until the winner is declared.
