A+E Networks is refreshing its key Spanish-language channel History en Español (HEE) with an enhanced on-air look, a new programming strategy and more than twice the number of premiere hours.
Launched in 2004, the channel claims to feature the best of History's programming in Spanish for the ever-more important Latino sector in the US. It is widely distributed in the country on AT&T, Charter, Comcast, Cox, Dish, DIRECTV and Verizon FiOS among others.
The new HEE programming line-up includes docu-series such as Barbarians Rising, and factual hits including Hunting Hitler and Pawn Stars, along with scripted series. It is also set to premiere Embajadores de la Mafia, which delves into the arrival of the Italian-American mafia in Latin America. The channel will also launch a Spanish-language Facebook fan page offering even more opportunities for audiences to engage with their favourite shows.
Commenting on the refresh, Edward Sabin, MD, Americas, and head of commercial operations, International, said: “We’re injecting HEE’s prime time schedule with new genres of programming to serve an even wider segment of the growing Hispanic audience throughout the US as we continue to grow our channel.”
