The A+E Networks self-shot extreme adventure format, Alone, has debuted to strong ratings for Danish Broadcasting Corporation in Denmark.

Alone drops ten survival experts in separate wilderness locations. Completely by themselves, they must survive the physical and mental challenges of total isolation. They are given only ten items of their choosing, from a limited selection, to help them get by for as long as possible. The programme launched on DR3 on 1 January on the 9pm time slot to rank in the top three of new series premieres in the history of the channel. Alone also ranked third in its time slot. Episode two attracted an even bigger audience, and together the first two episodes grew the time-period on DR3 by 277% over the channel’s 2016 average.

“Alone has opened with second highest premiere ratings in DR3 history, which in full satisfies the high expectations we had for the show,” remarked Steffen Raastrup, head of channel at DR3. “We are very pleased with the quality of the show and the themes and issues it addresses which resonates beautifully with both our audience's expectations and DR3 values.”

“This latest success demonstrates Alone is a format that can be adapted to local territories with great appeal to targeted demos,” added A+E Networks VP, head of sales, Americas and Formats, Ellen Lovejoy. “We are thrilled with the initial ratings. We anticipate growth for the series as word continues to spread among the channel’s loyal viewers, and throughout Denmark.”
