Promising that it will get viewers closer to the entertainment they love faster, online video technology provider Roku has released version 4.0 of its mobile app.

The update to the Roku mobile app is being marketed by the company as an ‘ultimate’ streaming companion that gives one-tap access to streaming. Navigation to mobile features, including the remote control and search, is said to be easier than ever and the app can be used as a remote control as well as to search for content with a keyboard or voice.

On launch, users will see a scrollable view of available streaming channels — such as Netflix, Hulu or iPlayer — which can be accessed with one tap. Once a streaming channel is launched, the remote control will automatically appear on the app.
