With a new Formula One season about to start, Mediapro’s Canal F1 is confirmed as the official LATAM broadcaster, but no new operators have signed up for the network.
Although two broadcasting deals may soon be inked with pay-TV operators in El Salvador and Honduras, no major changes are expected in Canal F1’s distribution. In Central America, the channel is only available through Sky in Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panamá.
The network, which has exclusive rights to half of the 20 Grand Prix for Latin America, enjoys a consolidated distribution in Mexico on Televisa’s Sky and Izzi, Axtel and Totalplay, and in Argentina, on Cablevision, Red Intercable, Supercanal, Colsecor, CCC Tucuman, Gigared, Telered and Bahia Vision Color.
In addition, the signal is distributed by DirecTV in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Ecuador and also by Telefónica in Colombia and Venezuela.
The 2017 Formula One season has already started with tests in Barcelona, and Canal F1 Latin America has the exclusive rights to Russia, Spain, Canada, Azerbaijan, Austria, Hungary, Malaysia and Japan as well as Brazil and Abu Dhabi, the last two races of the season.
