In November 2016, UPC launched «Die Lehrer». Since then the series, which focuses on the dramas – big and small – in the lives of six teachers, has been one of the most popular series on the MyPrime streaming platform alongside well-known Swiss cult series such as «Fascht e Familie» or «Total Birgit».

Following «Fässler-Kunz» and «Im Heimatland» (co-production with AZ Medien), «Die Lehrer» is the third sitcom to be produced by UPC. “By producing our own content we are offering our customers another exclusive Swiss TV series and have thus established ourselves as the only producer of fictional TV series in German-speaking Switzerland besides SRF,” says Pascal Amrein, Director of Content at UPC.

On free TV from mid-March
So that viewers without access to MyPrime are also able to watch «Die Lehrer», UPC has licensed the first series to AZ Medien | tv & radio for broadcast on free TV. The first eight episodes will be available from mid-March on the regional channels TeleZüri, TeleBärn, Tele M1 and national channels TV24 and TV25.

Press reviews
The sitcom is also a hit with TV critics. TV magazine TELE described «Die Lehrer» as “entertaining and surprisingly fresh.”

tagesanzeiger.ch said: “Yes, they are deliciously funny, these childish, intriguing, chaotic teachers,” and “the fast paced episodes are certainly not short of running gags and bite.”
