Aiming to increase its global reach, Spain’s La Liga has signed an agreement with Mexican sports marketing specialist Global W.

Under the terms of the agreement, Global W will become La Liga’s only representative in Mexico, managing all the events and initiatives of the Spanish football competition in the country.

Through this move, La Liga intends to better address the audience in one of its key international markets.*“With 129 million inhabitants, Mexico has the second highest number of people following La Liga on social media,” stated the organisation.

The partnership will enable La Liga fans to gain access to exclusive match broadcasts and marketing initiatives such as trips to Spain to watch live games or matches between Spanish and Mexican teams of legends.

The first will be a game in Mexico between former Spanish and Mexican players, as part of the La Liga Legends project.

“We’re always looking for partners that help us grow and meet the demands of our fans, the media and sponsors. Global W will give us all we need in Mexico,” said Javier Tebas, president, La Liga.

The Spanish football association has already inked similar agreements with marketing agencies in Dubai, New York, China, India, Nigeria and South Africa.
