Originally set to launch at the beginning of this year, the release of RTVE’s children’s channel for LATAM and the US has been delayed.
The Spanish broadcasting corporation will be presenting the pay-TV network Clan at Colombia’s Andina Link, which is becoming one of the reference events for the Latin American broadcasting industry.
However, RTVE, which announced the network with much fanfare at NATPE, has delayed release until the second half of 2017.
The HD signal will focus on preschool kids between two and seven, although some programming will be suitable for children up to 12, as with the Spanish version of the channel.
Two-thirds of Clan’s line-up will be in-house productions or co-productions with Spanish and European companies, while the rest will be acquired independent content produced in Spain.
The network will become RTVE’s fourth international channel, and the second exclusive to the Americas. The public broadcaster also distributes Star HD, TVE Internacional and 24 Horas.
The Spanish-language kids’ channel, which is aiming for distribution across Latin America and the US Hispanics, will be represented at Andina Link by RTVE’s vice manager of international sales, María Jesús Pérez.
