A localised version of BBC pre-school children’s channel CBeebies is scheduled to start transmissions on 15 cable channels in Taiwan from 13 March.
The 24-hour pay channel, dubbed in Mandarin, will be available to a total of 3.8 million cable households in areas including Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung, Tainan and Chiayi. The channel, aimed at children under the age of six, encourages them to learn through play with a mixture of programming such as Hey Duggee (pictured), Sarah and Duck, Numtums and Dinopaws.
CBeebies will be available on the following cable TV networks in Taiwan: MOD, Kbro, Ping Nan, Cable Giant, TFN, TOP, DigiTai, New Kaohsiung, Shih-Hsin, Kuo-Shen, TWT, New Taipei City, Ta Yang, Hsin Yeong An and Beidu.
“This is the first time that CBeebies programmes will be fully dubbed in Mandarin and launched as a channel in Taiwan. The channel is home to some of the most entertaining and educational programmes for young children and we are excited to share them with families in the region.
We are delighted to be partnering with 15 affiliates for the launch of CBeebies, and are looking forward to future opportunities for collaboration,” said Kelvin Yau, general manager for Greater China, BBC Worldwide.
CBeebies was crowned Channel Of The Year at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Children’s Awards 2016.
