Disney’s Freeform ventures to Spain on Wuaki

Streaming platform Wuaki has become the first destination outside the US for Disney’s millennial-focused channel Freeform.

The Rakuten-owned over-the-top (OTT) company has reached an agreement with The Walt Disney Company to premiere part of Freeform’s catalogue exclusively in Spain.

The selected content will be added to the Wuaki Selection video-on-demand (VOD) package by the end of March.

Among the titles to be added by Wuaki are series such as Beyond, Stitchers, Dead of Summer, The Fosters and Young & Hungry, and teenage hits including Shailene Woodley’s Divergente.

For the moment, the Disney content will only be available for Spanish subscribers, even though the streaming platform is available in other European countries including the UK, Ireland and Italy.

Freeform (formerly ABC Family) is a well-established cable and satellite channel in the US, where it has been available since 1977 and has undergone several rebrandings. The network was named Freeform in 2015 after The Walt Disney Company took control of it.
