Machinima, AMC Networks’ subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) eSports channel, is to be added to Orange’s pay-TV platform in Spain.

The agreement marks the first step in what was Machinima’s original strategy, becoming an SVOD complement for telco TV services. However, AMC Networks finally decided to try it out first as a standalone service, and launched the platform along with an app for smart TVs and mobile devices in December 2016.

Through this deal, Orange also increases its bet on eSports and the gaming community, as the French telco is already sponsoring Spain’s main eSports competition. The company is also producing original gaming content for a dedicated YouTube channel and several social media platforms.

As a standalone service, Machinima’s SVOD*was offering a one-month free trial, followed by a monthly subscription of €0.99 or an annual fee of €9.99. Now it will be available with no extra cost for the subscribers of Orange TV’s Cine y Series package.

The platform’s programming includes original series like Street Fighter: Resurrection, Transformers: The Combiner Wars; shows like The Bacca Chronicles and reality series like Training Camp.
