Telefónica is revamping its pay-TV offer in Peru, as it renames its channels to strengthen the Movistar brand.
Peru is the company’s second-largest pay-TV operation in terms of subscribers and the most secure one, controlling over 67% of the market. It now aims to add value to its offer by increasing its digital and original services and content.
“In Peru, we are about to join Telefónica’s global commitment to deliver original products, designed for the needs of each client. This new strategy will allow us to get closer to our clients while being at the forefront of digitalisation,” said Luis Eduardo Garvan, brand and communications manager, Movistar Peru.
In addition to placing emphasis on a more digital future, Movistar will rebrand CMD - which is one of the channels that owns TV rights for local football - as well as Plus TV, to realign them with the company’s portfolio. CMD will be named Movistar Deportes and Plus TV, Movistar Plus.
“We intend that this new strategy works across all our products, so our exclusive channels will also be revamped to align with Movistar’s new image,” added Garvan.
