Over a quarter more Ultra HD productions have been submitted for the third edition of the Hispasat 4K International Short Film Festival compared with last year’s event.
The satellite operator says that 127 short films from 17 different countries have been submitted to*this year’s edition, which represents an increase of about 26% over the 2016 edition. Such figures it says confirm the increase of audiovisual production and creation in 4K as the technology spreads.
The call, which ended 14 June, was open to films entirely shot and post-produced in 4K that have been produced as of 1 January 2015, in any country and in any genre, with a maximum length of 25 minutes.
Short films have been received from Germany, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Spain, the United States, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Mexico, Peru, the United Kingdom, Russia and Switzerland.
In fact, international representation has doubled, with 33 foreign short films this year compared to the 15 that were submitted in 2016. This represents 26% of all the entries, confirming the progressive internationalisation of the festival.
The Festival, organized by the Spanish satellite operator Hispasat, is sponsored by the production company Cine365 Film, leading companies in the film production sector, such as Dolby Laboratories, SGO, Fujifilm and the sound studio Ad Hoc, as well as Spain’s public broadcaster RTVE, and*Atreseries, which has joined the initiative this year.
