Mexican media group Televisa has announced a major revamping of its music-themed pay-TV channel Telehit across Latin America.
The company will bet on innovative content, multiscreen and video-on-demand (VOD) formats and will strengthen Telehit’s focus on social TV.
Along with a revamped line-up, a new team of hosts and presenters will be joining the channel from 3 July, including Ximena Cardozo, Paly Duval, Brenda Kellerman, Estefanía Ahumada, Octavia Porto, Israel Labastida, Rulo Sker and Oscar Burgos Jr.
Televisa*has also announced it will produce exclusive formats to be only released through Telehit’s digital properties and social media channels. Across Latin America, the network has over 14 million followers on the social networks.
“Telehit will become the first network with an interactive platform for original content,” said Carlos Murguía, producer, Telehit. “We are the top pop channel for a reason.”
Televisa’s move is one more strategical decision aimed to strengthen the company’s digital presence in the region. Since last year, the Mexican broadcaster has launched an over-the-top (OTT) video-on-demand (VOD) operation, blim, and has refocused its content production department to meet the demands of a multiscreen audience.
