Argentina’s public telco has announced the full commercialisation of Arsat-2’s broadcasting services.
Barely three months after admitting it was failing to make the satellite profitable, Arsat announces a major move to sell the nearly 60% of capacity that wasn’t being use. This would allow the company to invoice over $110 million over the next five years.
The broadcasting agreements have been reached after a commercial mission to the US, but no commercial partners have been disclosed yet.
“We have developed a strong commercial strategy aimed at gaining international presence and positioning the Arsat brand in the industry,” said Rodrigo de Loredo, president, Arsat. “We’ve reached several deals that enable us to announce we have managed to draw international investments and sell the capacity of the Arsat-2.”
According to De Loredo, for the first time, Arsat will exceed*the goal of $22 million of invoicing per year, necessary to get the return on the initial investment within Arsat-2’s lifespan.
