For 36 consecutive months, Mega has retained the throne as Chile’s most watched free-to-air (FTA) channel.

In June 2017, Mega averaged 11.5 rating points, ending the month again ahead of Canal 13 (7.8), CHV (6.6), the public broadcaster TVN (5) and La Red (1.5).

The FTA linear channel, which is reported to be struggling financially, has averaged ten rating points during the first half of 2017, topping the audience rankings way ahead of its competitors.

In fact, Mega has been Chile’s most watched FTA channel since 2014 and has gradually strengthened its position. The network ended 2014 with 8.4 average rating points, 2015 with 9.3 and 2016 with 9.5.

Mega’s strong ratings in June are partially due to football programming, as the network aired the matches of Chile’s national team. The friendly games against Romania and Russia were the most watched sports broadcastings, with 23.3 and 22.2 ratings points, respectively, followed by the ConfeCup final against Germany (19.5).
