FOX and Turner are preparing to cover the entire Argentinean football league through new pay-TV networks.
Following the TV rights agreement last April, FOX will cover Argentina’s first division, due to kick off on 20 August, through Fox Sports, Fox Sports 2 and Fox Sports 3, and Turner will launch TNT Sports in the country.
According to local media, both groups have decided to split the broadcasting rights, so each will deliver seven matches per week during the coming season.
In spite of being owned by pay-TV networks, all games will be delivered on a free-to-air (FTA) basis until 20 November, as the Government will subsidise the competition’s nationwide broadcasts.
The 2017/2018 season will be the first in eight years to be covered by pay-TV operators, after the Macri administration decided to put an end to the Fútbol para Todos programme.
