From this summer, MySports will be the new TV home for the Bundesliga matches broadcast by Sky Deutschland. UPC has landed its latest major coup for MySports by entering into the partnership. All Bundesliga matches for which Sky owns the rights will be shown exclusively on MySports in Switzerland via cable and IPTV.
UPC has secured the distribution rights for the German football Bundesliga for MySports by entering into a partnership with Sky Deutschland. This means that one of Europe’s most popular football leagues will be shown on MySports – starting this coming season. This cooperation marks another fundamental shake-up of the Swiss sports TV market.
Steffi Buchli, Director of Programming, MySports: “I am thrilled that as a new sports channel we can now also offer our customers this highlight of international football! We are taking our channel to the next level with this move and leaving our competitors on the Swiss sports TV market behind.” UPC and the 15 distribution partners will show all Bundesliga games on MySports for which Sky owns the rights – that is 572 Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga matches per year in total.

Matthias Hahn, Vice President Commercial Distribution at Sky: “For customers of Swiss cable operators, the partnership primarily means one thing: from now on, they can experience lots of white-knuckle, emotional sporting moments with first-class reporting from Sky. The cooperation with UPC fits in perfectly with our strategy of making increased use of our potential in the Swiss market in the future and generating further growth.”
Information about the other sports to be offered on MySports and details of the commercial offers will follow next week. This much is for sure: a small number of Bundesliga football matches will be shown on the basic channel, MySports HD, while the full offer will be available with MySports Pro. Customers who do not have a MySports Pro subscription can also purchase access for individual match days.
