Following the trail of new video consumption habits, Telefónica’s Movistar+ is to release its latest series at once, targeting binge watchers through its video-on-demand (VOD) service.

Mira lo que has hecho is the title of Movistar+’s first original comedy, set to premiere in February 2018 exclusively across the telco’s video platforms.

“It’s a series targeting new consumption habits,” said Domingo Corral, director, original fiction,*Movistar+. “Our clients are already watching over 80% of our series on-demand, which is why we are going to offer the full series of Mira lo que has hecho at once.”

The move has been announced as part of Telefónica’s new distribution strategy. From now on, the telco is to boost in-house content distribution within its pay-TV and VOD channels.

“We believe Movistar+ has one of the best projects of Spain’s audiovisual industry. We promise to be up to the task,” added Xen Subirats, executive producer of El Terrat, which is to co-produce the series.

The series was filmed in Barcelona in only eight weeks, between 15 May and 6 July. Written by Berto Romero, Rafel Barceló and Enric Pardo, the comedy stars both well-established actors like Mariano Venancio, Chete Lera and Carmen Esteban as well as emerging stars such as Eva Ugarte, Anna Carreño, Juanfra Suárez or Jordi Aguilar.
