Twitter nets first live broadcast in Argentina

Social media giant Twitter is partnering with Argentina’s basketball league to live broadcast the competition’s final across its network.

The agreement has been reached by IMS, Twitter’s commercial partner in Argentina, and is bringing the up two six games between San Lorenzo and Regatas to the platform and its native apps for Apple TV and Microsoft Xbox One.

It’s the first time Twitter launches live broadcasts in Argentina since*it started doing live video*by the end of 2016. According to the company, over 800 hours of live video have been broadcast during the first quarter of 2017.

“The social conversation about basketball is already live on Twitter and now, together with the Liga Nacional de Básquetbol, fans will be enabled to watch the games through the same platform in which they’re commenting the action,” said Pitter Rodríguez, director, sports partnerships, ***Twitter Latin America*** https://about.twitter.com/es/company.

“It will be the first of many live broadcasts to come in the fields of sports and entertainment,” pointed out Facundo Guzmán, country manager, IMS Argentina. “Twitter is a social network the promotes real-time interaction. At IMS, we support this kind of actions in order to adapt to the audience’s language and improve our results.”
