June data for the Netflix ISP Speed Index shows that several Asian ISPs have increased their throughput for the leading subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) product.

Indonesia’s MyRepublic experienced a speed increase of 0.41Mbps in June, the biggest increase on the index this month, bringing its average monthly speed up to 3.67Mbps. The gain helped the ISP jump three spots to No 2 in Indonesia.

Other notable gains for the month include BIGLOBE in Japan, with speeds improving by 0.36Mbps, bringing its average monthly speed up to 3.36Mbps. India’s Spectranet increased its speed to 2.69Mbps, up from 2.38Mbps in May.

In Spain, Telefonica-Movistar’s speeds climbed to 2.36Mbps, up from 2.08Mbps the prior month. Euskaltel jumped six spots to No 1 in Spain, increasing its speed to a 3.78Mbps average. These movements helped Spain move up four spots to 23rd in the country rankings.

FarEasTone in Taiwan experienced a speed increase of 0.23Mbps, bringing its average monthly speed to 2.27Mbps, up from 2.04Mbps last month.

Despite a wealth of positive gains, some did see their speeds slow — as is the case in other months, the Index saw ups and downs. In Indonesia, Infokom’s speeds slowed to 3.09Mbps from 3.32Mbps the previous month and Neuviz’s speeds slowed by 0.31Mbps, bringing its speeds down to a 2Mbps average.

Taiwan’s TFN and So-net also both experienced slowing speeds. TFN’s speeds slowed to 2.61Mbps, down from 2.98Mbps in May, while So-Net’s speeds slowed to 3.3Mbps, down from 3.54Mbps in May.

Several ISPs in South Korea saw their speeds decrease in June. D LIVE’s speeds decreased by 0.38Mbps, bringing its average monthly speed down to 2.73Mbps. SK Broadband’s speeds decreased to 2.58Mbps in June, down from 2.85Mbps last month, while KT’s speeds slowed to 2.91Mbps, down from 3.24Mbps in May.
