Suning Sports Media is bringing pro-wrestling network WWE to China as a subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service on its PPTV digital platform.
The deal will include live pay-per-view events including the marquee bouts Wrestlemania and Summerslam. Its launch comes just days before Summerslam 2017, which will be broadcast live with Mandarin commentary at 7am (Beijing time) on 21 August.
Chinese fans will also be able to watch WWE content such as NXT, 205 Live, Total Divas and a well-stocked library of classic matches.
This latest content agreement allows Chinese customers to watch pro wrestling through smart TVs and set-top boxes, as well as mobile devices and tablets. It follows a deal last year between Suning and WWE to show the weekly programmes Raw and Smackdown live on PPTV with Mandarin commentary. PPTV also made the Wrestlemania 33 event available in April on a pay-per-view basis.
