Sony Pictures Networks (SPN) will mark Indian Independence Day by airing a biographical film about the country’s greatest sports icon Sachin Tendulkar.
On the evening of 15 August, Sachin: A Billion Dreams will be transmitted in five languages by the network’s seven channels. Directed by Emmy-nominated British filmmaker James Erskine and produced by Ravi Bhagchandka, the biopic is a detailed look at Tendulkar’s professional and personal life.
The movie features real footage, with match clips and interviews with colleagues and family, as well as current cricket stars such as Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. It also marks the cricketer’s acting debut.
“The viewers have lived every moment of my 24 years on the field with me, but no one knew what was going on in my head. They might know my scores and recall every ball, but this movie will help them get inside my brain and know what I was feeling during the lows and highs. The movie will reveal my relationship with my family and also give the fans a glimpse into my personal life through my real-life family footage,” said Sachin Tendulkar, ambassador for sports, SPN.
Reaching a potential audience of over 700 million viewers Sony MAX & Sony MAX HD will broadcast the programme in Hindi, Tamil & Telugu, Sony MAX2 in Marathi, while English will be the language featured on Sony PIX, Sony PIX HD, SONY SIX and SONY SIX HD.
