Aiming to transcend the usual business TV reality format where entrepreneurs pitch ideas to potential investors, MTV India is creating a brand new format focusing on the launch of a television start-up.

Created by Monozygotic and co-developed by MTV and Monozygotic, Dropout Pvt takes viewers through the process of identifying and transforming so-called ‘dropouts’ into the ideal start-up team and kick-starting their entrepreneurial journey. The show will comprise 13 episodes with rounds such as pitch desk, sorting hat, functional training, pre-finale and, of course, the finale. At the end of each task, a single team will emerge victorious, and in the final episode it will go on to set up a fully functioning start-up from scratch - something that MTV says has never happened on television before.

The format attempts to find the best business minds outside the established management and entrepreneurial system, and those identified will then be groomed by industry leaders through trials where they will have to solve real-world business problems in a short span of time. These business leaders include Sandeep Aggarwal, CEO and founder of Droom.in; Anisha Singh, CEO and co-founder Mydala.com; Alok Kejriwal, CEO and co-founder of Games2Win; and show hosts and creators Raghu Ram and Rajiv Laxman who are also co-founders of Monozygotic.

Commenting on the launch, Ferzad Palia, head, youth, music and English entertainment, Viacom18, said: “India is brimming with young untapped energy keen on making ideas come to life and we at MTV India, believe that as the largest platform for everything related to the youth, it is our responsibility to recognise, channel and mobilise this energy by providing the youth with the right tools to make ideas happen. MTV India aims at empowering these youngsters by providing them the biggest encouragement in the form of Dropout Pvt to kick start their entrepreneurial dreams and to also make them recognise that their dreams are valid and are possible to achieve.”
