Spain’s Movistar+ has announced that its original show La Zona will premiere during the Sitges Film Festival.
La Zona, created by Jorge and Alberto Sánchez-Cabezudo and starring Eduard Fernández, Álvaro Cervantes, Alba Galocha, Alexandra Jiménez, Manolo Solo and Emma Suárez, is set to premiere on Movistar+, Telefónica’s pay-TV platform in Spain, on 27 October.
Ten days before this, the series’ pilot episode will be internationally showcased at the Sitges Film Festival, an international event focused on the horror genre that is being held between 5-15 October in the Catalonian town.
“We are very happy to present La Zona at this Festival, of which we have great memories,” said Alberto Sánchez-Cabezudo. “My brother Jorge premiered his first short movie in Sitges. Presenting the series here means we’re going to have an audience that is demanding, but also enthusiastic.”
Movistar+, which recently increased its in-house production drive, will also premiere La Peste at the San Sebastian Film Festival in September. It is the first TV series to be selected by the A-category film festival.
