Márcia Cruz has been appointed DirecTV’s Latin American VP for content, expanding her previous role as VP of programming for Brazil’s Sky.

AT&T’s pay-TV business continues to strengthen its position in the region while it awaits a final decision on the Time Warner merger. The operation is expected to significantly affect the LATAM TV market.

Through her new role, Cruz will manage the content strategy across Latin America along with relationships and negotiations with the region’s main programmers.

“Since 2006, Márcia has been a key leader, managing our programming efforts in Sky Brasil. Her solid experience will contribute to strengthen our position in the content market,” said Rick Nerod, SVP, content, DirecTV Latin America.

The Brazilian executive is currently VP of programming at Sky, a role she will maintain along with her new regional position. Before that, she was director of programming for the Brazilian pay-TV operator.
