Sports-focused over-the-top (OTT) platform Sportflix hasn’t changed direction despite criticism from broadcasters and TV rights owners, but is limiting its responsibility for the service’s performance.

The Mexican company has revealed through its social media channels that the OTT service will be available globally from 30 August.

However, broadcasters such as ESPN, Turner and FOX, and major sports competitions including La Liga and the Premier League have stated that no commercial agreement has been reached with the platform.

Many users have also voiced their concerns about the platform’s performance, as Sportflix’s terms and conditions are not particularly reassuring.

When signing onto the platform, subscribers have to accept that the company has the right to stop delivering the service for any reason or cause, without explanation or prior notification. In addition, the company says that it isn’t able to guarantee that the services are the same as those announced, or that the games will be streamed without interruption.

According to the company, Sportflix will be released next week, in time to stream the major football competitions. In addition, Android and iOS apps were supposed to be launched along with the web-based service, but their release has been temporarily suspended.
