Viacom International Media Networks has launched Paramount+, a subscription VOD service allowing pay-TV operators to offer to premium subscribers first-run Paramount Pictures films alongside MTV and Comedy Central TV shows.
Beginning on 1 October, Paramount + will offer an array of classic films and more than 800 episodes of popular programmes from the Viacom-owned networks to premium subscribers of YouSee and Telenor/Canal Digital in Denmark; Com Hem and Telenor/Canal Digital in Sweden; and TDC’s Get and Telenor/Canal Digital in Norway. The new streaming service will have its own branded environment in each pay-TV operator’s user interface.
Paramount film releases within the first pay-TV window include Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, Allied, Fences, Monster Trucks, Rings, Brother Nature, Goat, and xXx: Return of Xander Cage. In addition, Paramount+ will offer hit films from Paramount’s library and on-demand access to episodes of MTV and Comedy Central shows including Inside Amy Schumer, Geordie Shore, Broad City, Teen Mom and South Park. In the coming months movies such as Baywatch, Ghost in the Shell, Transformers: The Last Knight and Mother! will also be added to Paramount+. Additional offerings will include classic movies such as The Godfather Parts I, II and III, Shutter Island, True Grit, Star Trek: Into Darkness and The Ring.
“Paramount + is a ground-breaking concept for us and an important extension of our pay TV offer to our linear distribution partners,” remarked VIMN Nordics General Manager and SVP Andrea Sahlgren. “It’s the first time we’re aggregating first run movie rights with our TV content under the Paramount brand for SVOD access, available for our pay-TV operators only. It’s the perfect complement to our existing linear TV and VOD offerings and will meet unrivalled demand from viewers in all the Nordic countries to be able to watch their favourite TV shows and movies when, where and on whatever device they want.”
