London-based rights ownership and distribution company TCB Media Rights has closed a representation deal with Sydney’s Essential Media and Entertainment for over 55 hours of new and existing factual-entertainment programming.
Founded in 2006, Essential Media and Entertainment is one of Australia's leading independent production companies delivering shows for both local and international audiences. Among the Essential titles covered under the deal are the 52x30' Gourmet Farmer, now in its fourth season on SBS Australia, and digital series #Shelfie with Dan Hong, which won two categories at this year’s Australian Online Video Awards.
The addition of the Essential catalogue to the TCB Media Rights portfolio brings the number of new hours the company is set to launch at the forthcoming MIPCOM show to more than 250. The distributor is heading for Cannes in October with a slate of 36 brand new shows. Highlights include the ITN Productions 3x60’ documentary series easyJet: Inside the Cockpit, which offers unprecedented access to the high-pressure pilot-training scheme at the UK’s fastest growing airline
Commenting on the latest deal, managing director Kate Llewellyn-Jones said: “The Essential catalogue dovetails beautifully with TCB’s existing portfolio, adding a new and fresh seam of quality factual entertainment to our slate. We see this deal as a great opportunity to forge ties that bind with one of Australia’s most prolific and talented production companies.”
Added Essential Media and Entertainment executive producer Chris Hilton: “We’re confident TCB is the best distributor to market and support our extensive factual entertainment catalogue around the world and look forward to expanding our new working relationship.”
