As transfer windows close and football leagues take a break, the Latin American sports-focused channel DirecTV Sports has turned its attention to Europe’s World Cup qualifiers.

Through its linear pay-TV channel and multi-device streaming platform, DirecTV Sports will show all the qualifying games of the UEFA teams for the Russia 2018 World Cup.

Through the weekend and until next Wednesday (6 September), the network will follow all the teams in their efforts to finish in each group’s first position, which gives direct access to the World Cup, or second, which will take them to one more play-off round.

The fans' attention will be split across several interesting games, though many will be looking for Spain v Italy, as both teams lead group G with the same amount of points. The match will be played today (2 September).

DirecTV’s bet on Russia 2018 is strong, with the AT&T company having already unveiled its strategy to cover the World Cup in full.

In addition to European football, DirecTV Sports will also complete its line-up for the weekend with FIBA basketball competitions. The channel will cover the final rounds of the FIBA Americup 2017 and the Eurobasket 2017.
