Sinclair, CBS renew TV affiliate deal

As the US regulator the FCC considers its $3.9 billion bid for Tribune Media, Sinclair Broadcast Group has struck a multi-year renewal with CBS.

The deal re-ups local TV station affiliation for outlets in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Harlingen, Texas; and Portland, Maine; as well as a Syracuse, New York, affiliate covered by a Sinclair joint sales agreement. All of them were set to expire at the end of 2018.

The renewed stations reach a combined 1.5 million homes; Sinclair's other 20 CBS stations overall reach nine million homes (about 8% of the country).
