eSports is enjoying increasing popularity. MySports has recognised the potential of the gaming sport and is bringing a new TV format to Switzerland. From 23 October, episodes of the “Arena eSports” programme will be shown exclusively on the sports channel.

The 30-minute show “Arena eSports” provides news on developments in the eSports world and reports on eSports events. On Monday, 23 October at 10 pm, the first episode of the British programme will be shown on the German-language basic channel, MySports HD, dubbed into German. “eSports has got millions of fans around the world. By including eSports in our line-up we are giving the world’s fastest growing sport a home. MySports is the first Swiss TV channel to offer eSports such a platform,” says Steffi Buchli, Director of Programming at MySports. “Arena eSports” will be broadcast exclusively and will have a fixed weekly slot on Monday evening at 10 pm.

Next milestone for eSports commitment
Through its commitment to eSports, UPC – which holds the rights to MySports – has shown that powerful technology and the sport of the future belong together. In October 2016, for instance, the online platform esports.ch was launched, which reports on developments in the eSports field with a focus on Switzerland. The online programme is produced in the eStudios in Frau Gerolds Garten in Zurich. Anna Gatti, Head of Marketing, Products and Digital at UPC: “As a communications and entertainment provider not only do we want to support the eSports scene from a technical point of view with our powerful Internet at local events. With esports.ch and now with MySports we want to offer it a Switzerland-wide platform and promote acceptance of eSports as a sport to be taken seriously.”
