Brazilian telco Vivo has revamped its eSports strategy by adding new video content, launching a digital gaming service and sponsoring its own eSports team.

During an announcement at Brasil Game Show, the telco presented a second season of the web series Game Changers, which follows the performance of Brazilian eSports players such as Naná Fraga and Wendell Lira. Vivo will also release a short documentary showing how eSports professionals train before a competition.

“Our content aims to show the reality of Brazilian gamers, the daily routine of the eSports professionals. We intent to contribute to change the image that gaming is only about having fun,” said Marina Daineze, director of communications, Vivo.

Video will also be key in the Vivo Games4U platform, a digital gaming service that includes YouTube analysis and reviews, eSports news and over 300 online games.

The Telefónica company has decided to support Vivo Key and its four teams playing in League of Legends, Counter Strike and Clash Royale.

“Each year, the games market is getting more professional and growing as one of the main drives of Brazil’s digital economy. Our strategy is being closer to that audience and understand better its demands,” added Marcio Fabbris, president, B2C, Vivo.
