Until now, UPC, as a long-standing partner of the municipality of Mellingen, has facilitated access to the digital world for the residents of Mellingen both through its own infrastructure and also through partner networks. Now, the network in the old town is also owned by UPC. The unification of cable network provider is the result of a long and good cooperation. And so not only do customers have access to powerful products from UPC, but will also benefit from the company’s innovative strength.

Power, innovation and the network of the future
“The municipality of Mellingen is delighted to be handing over the cable network in the old town of Mellingen with its some 300 subscribers to UPC,” says Beat Deubelbeiss, Municipal Secretary of Mellingen. “We want to continue to meet the challenges and demands posed by digitisation in the future. But that is only possible with the corresponding know-how, adequate power and the will to innovate. After a long and successful partnership, we are certain that we are taking the right step towards securing these factors by handing over our network to UPC.”

Urs Reinhard, Vice President Strategy and Business Development at UPC, is also convinced that the takeover is the right move: “I believe that synergy effects are incredibly important. And since we have now established ourselves as a contact partner in the municipality by acquiring the network in the old town, I think we are ideally equipped for the future as far as sustainability, consistency and reliability are concerned. If one also considers the efforts that UPC has made with regard to network infrastructure in Switzerland over many years and will continue to make in the coming years, then it is clear that the takeover is also an investment in the future.”
