Joint-venture MARCA Claro and Facebook have reached an agreement to live broadcast the PyeongChang Winter Olympics across Latin America through the social platform.
Under the terms of the deal, Facebook Live will deliver four hours of daily content as well as all the highlights on-demand.
The live content will be available for Facebook users in Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela until the closing ceremony on 25 February.
Facebook has added Instagram to the agreement, and recaps and highlights will be available on MARCA Claro’s feed on the pics and videos social network.
“We know Facebook is one of the most important social media platforms in the region. Together with our experience in delivering content through digital media and the content exclusivity, we are securing a great reach for the Olympics,” pointed out Joe Aboumrad, GM, MARCA Claro and Claro Sports.
The agreement with Facebook is part of MARCA and Claro’s multi-screen strategy to take the PyeongChang 2018 Olympics to every platform in Latin America.
