Paying subscribers to ALTBalaji now number over half a million, Balaji Telefilms' over-the-top (OTT) video platform has revealed when posting its third quarter results.
For the quarter ended 31 December 2017, ALTBalaji reported total, or gross billing collections of INR44 million compared with INR32 million gathered in the trailing quarter.

ALTBalaji also reported 433 million minutes of video consumption since the subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service launched in April 2017, with an average watch per user of 98 minutes.
During the quarter, the OTT platform launched two shows: Bose Dead/Alive and Bengali original Dhimaner Dinkaal. A total of 14 original shows have been released so far, and ALTBalaji has recently agreed a bundle deal with Reliance Jio's mobile service .
The company posted a net loss after tax of INR178 million and an operating loss of INR200 million due to increase in costs, attributed to content production and marketing activity.

The company said it would continue to strengthen its business to business partnerships ecosystem across a range of OEMs, telecommunications and internet service providers and payment wallets.
