Indian YouTube sensation Bhuvan Bam has agreed to license his content to the digital arm of video aggregator Kwan Entertainment, which bolsters the nascent division's growing comedy roster.

Bhuvan Bam, who stars in BB Ki Vines, joins Kwan Digital's growing portfolio of comedy content alongside Vir Das, WeirdAss, Bollywood Gandu aka Karan Talwar, Mallika Dua, Amit Tandon, and Suresh Menon.

"The wave of new-age, digitally-led Indian comedians has rewritten the paradigms of the entertainment business in the country. We, at Kwan Digital, want to disrupt it even further by creating the largest network of Indian content creators. Associating with Bhuvan Bam, possibly India's first YouTube megastar, is yet another step towards fulfilling this vision," said Jovan Martin, business head, Kwan Entertainment.

With this addition, the young company now claims to be the largest and most diverse comedy business in India, having disrupted the sector since its launch nine months ago.

Kwan Entertainment co-founder Vijay Subramaniam added: "There's a drastic shift in the way content is being created and consumed in India. New-age comedians are becoming as popular as mainline celebrities because of their fresh approach, quirky content, and honesty appeal to the country's growing millennial and post-millennial consumer base. These influencers speak, in the language of their target audiences, of their issues and hopes and aspirations and heartbreaks. Brands want more of this realism in their brand stories, consumers want more of what these artists offer.

"There's a whole new market that has opened up for such off-beat comedy content, which is why we are strengthening our roster by bringing top talent on board," said Subramaniam.
