Right-wing US cable outlet Fox News Channel is diving into the subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) waters this year with the Fox Nation over-the-top (OTT) streaming service.

The standalone OTT service will launch sometime in the fourth quarter, offering exclusive daily streaming content from the linear feed, along with long-form programming only available to subscribers. It also will include access to 20-plus years of its archival programming on-demand, and social engagement with the network’s hosts and personalities.

"With our traditional cable viewership at an all-time high, we are proud to announce a new digital offering geared entirely toward the FOX News super-fans, who represent the most loyal audience in cable, if not all of television,” said John Finley, SVP of development and production for the network.

“This initiative will capitalise on providing that viewer, who is among the most affluent and well-educated in cable, with a highly specialised content experience on a platform they can watch anytime, anywhere."
