OSN has announced a co-branded Disney channel will launch on the pay-TV platform across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) on 1 March 2018.

OSN Movies Disney HD will premiere films from the House of Mouse in both English and Arabic, at least a year ahead of regional rivals, the Dubai-based operator said.

The linear channel will also be available on digital channels OSN Play and OSN On Demand.

As well as showcasing recent films such as Disney Pixar's Cars 3, OSN Movies Disney HD will be home to classics including Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and the Lion King. Moana, Pirates of the Caribbean, Toy Story and Cars will also form some of the film channel's programming.

The move is an extension of OSN's partnership with Disney in MENA. The pay-TV platform already carries the channels Disney XD, Disney Junior and Disney Channel HD, and digital services - Disney Channel Pop Pick Play, Disney English and Disney Channel Hindi. Box sets of Disney series can also be found on ABC Studios on Demand and classic movies on Disney on Demand.

"OSN's ambition is to deliver entertainment everywhere for everyone, which is informed by the company's three key pillars: A customer-first approach, unrivalled exclusive content and unbeatable value," the company said in a statement.

OSN confirmed the Disney XD channel is set to introduce Arabic-dubbed content later this year. Disney Junior and Disney Channel HD are already available with Arabic dubbing or subtitles.
