The premiere of FX series Atlanta Robbin’ Season, the latest chapter in the Emmy Award-winning comedy series from Donald Glover, has nabbed the best US ratings of any recent basic cable comedy.

According to Nielsen, on a Live+3 basis, the premiere telecast of Atlanta Robbin’ Season on 1 March received 1.3 million adults 18-49, the most of any basic cable prime time scripted comedy telecast since Week 3 of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s 12th season on 18 January on FXX.

In adults 18-49 Live+3, the Atlanta Robbin’ Season premiere telecast was up 7% over the season one premiere of Atlanta and 9% over the season one average. In total viewers, the premiere was on par (1.8 million) with the season one premiere and up +5% compared with the season one average.

Time-shifted viewing was robust too, posting lifts of 123% and 109% in adults 18-49 and total viewers respectively from Live+Same Day to Live+3 ratings.

In all, the Robbin’ Season premiere debuted to 2.7 million total viewers Live+3, including the premiere telecast, two encore airings and digital streaming. This is expected to increase significantly over time as the first season of Atlanta has, to date, averaged 5.2 million total viewers across all linear and non-linear platforms since the season premiered on 6 September 2016.
